Block and Bleed Valve Cutflow

Block and Bleed Valve

Recently, we’ve noticed a trend among our customers. They are replacing their Weir-style and plug-style valve assemblies where sampling and sterile fluid transfer, diversion, and addition are involved. The ASEPCO Radial-Diaphragm™ Block and Bleed Valve is part of their perfect solution.

Why? Our customers tell us that to meet current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), they need to:

  • Eliminate issues with foreign growth.
  • Decrease contamination issues.
  • Decrease the cost associated with maintaining the valves.

The ASEPCO Weirless Diaphragm Valve is two valves that are machined together, which shortens the area between the two valves. The result is a reliable, deadleg-free design that eliminates potential contamination sources, and the extra cleaning associated with maintaining two assemblies.

Our valves have an additional advantage over Weir-style and plug valves—the cost of maintenance is significantly lower. Cleaning and changing out the diaphragm requires no tools or special training. Customers have lowered the cost of valve maintenance by up to 80%!

What’s more, our Weirless Diaphragm Valves consistently seal between the diaphragm and the valve, minimizing entrapment and significantly lowering the possibility for contamination.

Some customers order the Block and Bleed Valve by itself; however, several customers asked us to create custom assemblies based upon our Weirless valves, which we call Sterile Transfer Assemblies. The assemblies are similar in design, and are used for a variety of functions, such as sampling and sterile fluid transfer, diversion, and addition.

Steam Block Assembly with our Block and Bleed Valve

For example, one customer asked us to create what they call a Steam-Block Assembly with our Block and Bleed Valve, our Weirless Diaphragm Valve, and an Ingold connector. They used this assembly to replace a similar one that uses plug valves. As a result, the contamination issues that were causing them constant headaches are almost non-existent and the time spent doing maintenance has decreased significantly.

We have built similar valve assemblies for other customers, and our customers agree that our Weirless Diaphragm Valves cut down on contamination and decrease maintenance costs.

Are you trying to decrease your maintenance costs? Come talk to us about your application and we will create an assembly configured to your needs.

Give us a call, we’d love to help you solve any challenge you might have.

Best wishes,

Mark
