Medical-grade, platinum-cured Silicone is widely accepted in pharmaceutical and biotech applications and is often used throughout the plant. Like all of our diaphragm materials, our Silicone diaphragms meet USP Class VI and FDA 21 CFR 177.2600 standards. We provide two different finishes with our Silicone diaphragms. The first, and most common, is our white diaphragm, which is made with Q7-4765 and 0.25% titanium dioxide. The other is clear with no titanium dioxide. To get specific chemical compatibility information about Silicone and other elastomers, we suggest that you refer to the Cole-Parmer Chemical Compatibility Database.   • Low cost
  • Physical resilience
  • Has a very small change in dynamic characteristics over a wide range of temperatures
  • Recommended temperature range (-60 to 275°F / -51 to 135°C)

Weaknesses of this material:

  • Has only moderate chemical resistance
  • Has a tendency to tear, especially in constant steam and actuation

ASEPCO provides diaphragms created with a number of different materials. The materials vary with respect to heat-resistance, chemical-resistance, and durability. The table below shows basic compatibility information. Please do not use this information as your sole method for determining whether an elastomer is right for your specific process. Before using any elastomer in a process you should verify its compatibility with an elastomer expert.
